Liar 03:00
Liar, can't comprehend what you say it doesn't happen that way in my head So tired of living under that stairs counting phrases you said while I slept But I've got memories stored enough to make sense once more I won't change but I know what's in store for us so just trust me some more A cold night in the middle of May we're keeping feelings at bay, underground open eyes, I'm gonna say what I say you say there's hell to pay by the sounds of this

Good morning I'm still going nowhere but it seems like a bang-up place to be I'll remember I'll forget then I'll do it again Come into the next phase with me Because some days are long and I don't know what's coming next but something tells me that I might win so place your bets now The car's in the driveway let's go the rain in your hair will dry I'm thin and I"m accident-prone but that's what you want from your guy Cause I wanna be there when you see it and all of the things that are without limits don't stop this / I like it Good morning it's late and you're sleeping shake off the dust from your eyes I'm not at my best but you can keep me instead of discarding me time after time

Song Says So 03:12
Time is reminding me of old days a little blurry but I know it and it's mine to save Just a kid pushed up against the window pane Big imagination, brush stroke now let it rain No doubt things change while we're waiting every crisis makes a mark we try erasing remember weary days while we escaped from under Mom's thumb looking back we barely made it And the song says so and the adult makes his way tomorrow No I won't forget you I'm just looking through a bigger window Time is walking me old across the street I make it there after about a week Just a man looking for a little break pushing and shoving and hoping for a second date Every day is something new Every day is ours to use

At the end of the weekend one awake and one down a great big decision then I'll see you around under-estimater, a doubter you'll be awake in the morning and I'll already have climbed out of your gutter down, down, under down down and if May looks homeless, but at least there's summer Get the rest written get it on the air cooking up a new batch of commission it was mine first; I was there Is somebody there? somebody who cares? Poor boy looking for sympthy no more problems than you than me
9.
The city's so pretty from the top of my hill all my worries they fall away and all I need is your photograph to remind me of the life I can make Bells and alarms won't do us no harm we can finish the story on our own with pieces of fiction and a better setting they make for a much happier home We're not supposed to be anything / just what are we supposed to be and I'm supposed to be taking better care of everything around me The city's so pretty from the top of the hill all the lights suggest there's hope for us yet All I need is a picture of you and some rest and some peace and quiet
10.
Taking picture of fence-sitters there's ghosts that grab at my throat whenever we're here on the weekend happy weekend end of the week we made it now make it disappear I write letters I feel better I see you in print let's begin where we left off making changes rearrange it singing and dancing and laughing 'til the sun comes up all day long i think of you and I'm gone up and down until the voices cracks and gives out we can make it look at me understand me you can't navigate the whole race in which we compete competition repetition stumble and rumble and fall down, but hey that's me (hey, that's me!)

In between the loathing and adored the meat seats at the Number 5 Orange She's sweet but she's not the norm on stage at the Number 5 Orange Lit up but there's no going home best dressed at the adult prom falling down but you bounce back up third night, but she's had enough she's done with life downtown midnight no lights to be found a memory, she's piles on the ground she's done with life downtown heads up facing fading red sun back asleep where the dawn had come gone away is a kid being born out of 'lock at the Number 5 Orange the city lights, they seem so gold high above the hate and the cold 'round the corner where it seems so torn we're sitting back at the Number 5 Orange
12.
There's no more luck in my bingo book there's no question I best be on my way to a class of self deprecation They've squandered our lead but it's not all on me I'm not the president seeking second terms the cabinets full of worms they're all rotten There's dirt for sale coming in the mail no shipping or handling do it again while we turn our heads it's not happening the little you know about attacks down below the better, my darlings channel seventeen as it's coming in clean via satellite the little you know about attacks down below it's alright

about

In 2006, I recorded my first full-length recording with my friend and then-bandmate Mike Rogerson at the helm.

We worked out of Bakerstreet Studios in North Vancouver, where Mike worked. Along with our bandmates Dustin Young, Tom Dowding & Jesse Smith, the album also featured cameos from 3/4 of Vancouver's Odds (Pat Steward, Doug Elliott & Craig Northey) as well as Big Tall Garden's Hamish Thomson & Jon Frederiksen.

It was a messy record; I was still finding my voice. Everyone involved in getting it done for me showed great patience with that fact, and saw me through the process of 'serving the song' and getting it done right.

I'm forever grateful for those days & nights in Bakerstreet, and for all the people involved in making "Better Days Gone By".

***In addition to the 12 songs (& 3 hidden tracks) that make up 'Better Days' I've added 2 bonus tracks from the earlier "Lights Out EP" (2004).
"See to Believe" & "Split" were also recorded in the friendly confines of Bakerstreet Studios again with Mike Rogerson at the helm.
